(Scroll to the end of the article to buy the preset)

Over the past few months I’ve experimented with my Instagram feed (@nikita.butalia), switching back and forth between filters and feed themes because I couldn’t stick to one. I’ve extensively used Lightroom to create presets I love, but my favourite one so far- I call it Beach Bum- is this one. And it’s finally ready for purchase! Before you go ahead and buy it, I would recommend reading through the information below to get you started and help you with the process:

A little about presets: Presets are basically just filters for your picture (very much like Instagram pictures- except, these are used in Adobe Lightroom). So filters used in Adobe Lightroom are called presets. These presets can be used in any version of photoshop (Adobe Photoshop CC, Adobe Lightroom) and even on the FREE Lightroom Mobile App.

What you’re purchasing is simply a filter that will edit your pictures the same way that Instagram filters do. Except, with better colour schemes that are 100% editable, for each colour individually.

What it is:

This is an Adobe Lightroom preset/filter that works on the Lightroom Mobile App as well. Once you buy the preset, you can download the preset folder. You don’t need to have Lightroom on your laptop to use it. You can install it on your phone after downloading the folder on your desktop- on the FREE Lightroom Mobile App. You would need a laptop though- even if you don’t have Lightroom on it. Once you’ve installed it in Adobe Lightroom or on the Lightroom Mobile App, all you need to do is apply the filter/preset to your picture.

This filter works best on beach pictures or pictures that have a lot of blue in them. I wouldn’t recommend using it on pictures with green tones (parks, meadows, hills, national parks etc) as it tends to turn the green into a soft brown (and sometimes orange) shade. You can use it for pictures clicked at the beach, in the city or around other lakes and water bodies. It enhances mildly underexposed and dull images as well.

How it works:

Once you purchase the filter, you can use it in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom or the Adobe Lightroom Mobile App.

  • If you’re using it in Lightroom on your desktop, click here to learn how to install it.
  • If you’re using it in the Lightroom Mobile App and have the Lightroom App on your desktop/laptop, click here to learn how to install it on your Android. For iOS devices, just follow the steps below (in the video), its easier:
  • If you’re using it in the Lightroom Mobile App and don’t have the Lightroom App on your desktop/laptop (and don’t want to buy it), watch the videos below and follow the steps. You need a laptop, but you don’t need a Creative Cloud/Adobe Lightroom subscription. For iOS users:

Once you’ve applied the preset to your picture, you can easily tweak it based on your preferences, using the “Develop” module in Lightroom. You could increase or decrease the contrast, saturation, brightness or even specific colours.

What you get:

The folder contains two sub folders- one for Lightroom on your Desktop and the other for Lightroom Mobile. Each folder contains two versions of the preset- one with warm undertones and one with cool undertones. In easy words- one will give your picture a warm golden shade, and the other will give it a pleasant blue shade, while the rest of the shades are common to both. You can see these pictures to get an idea of the warm and cool undertones.

While this is specifically meant for beach pictures and those with blue tones, you can also use the preset on green tones or landscape pictures if you want to give them an autumn/orange effect. Here’s what the same preset looks like, when applied to green tones:

Once you download the zip file, you only need to open it and follow the steps mentioned above to install the preset.
